  1. Ok..now forget about everything….this is what you must do if you want to access gmai,android market,latitude etc from an android 2.2 froyo phone in mumbai (may work for other places also not sure)
    Get vodafone mobile connect (they call it advanced gprs for some strange reason)The cost is somewhere in the region of 300 rupees per month for 2 gb downloads.But if you call up their MNP (mobile number portability help line they will give it to you for 99 rupees.Just tell them that you want to change as other network is cheaper.You will be amazed as to the length they will go to satisfy you.You can throw their tariff chart in the dustbin as each and every charge is negotiable).
    Once VMC is activated on your phone…go to..
    Menu>
    settings>
    wireless and networks->
    Mobile networks->
    Access point names->
    Click the left button on your phone and choose NEW APN.
    Add these following settings (mumbai)
    Name->anything you want
    APN->www
    MCC->404
    MNC->20
    Authentication type->none
    APN type->internet and mms

    Dont fill any other blanks.
    Then…comes the most critical part where people go wrong…

    Dont try to log into google by clicking gmail or latitude or market icons on the home page…

    Go and click the youtube icon.
    You will go to youtube page…
    There choose the option to sign in to youtube (with your google account details.If you dont have google account,create it from your pc and then try this)
    It will take your login details and log you in….
    once youre into youtube…your google account is automatically set up!!
    After that you can click any google icon like market etc and you will get access completely…!!!
    Job done!!
